Artist Spotlight: Polarity

Polarity is a Canadian band that formed in December of 2008 and released their first album in 2009. Since that time they have played live shows relentlessly across Canada and released a new EP and single, all while managing everything regarding the band internally. Their sound can be tranquil and soothing at times but can quickly erupt in a blaze of fury and emotion. Comparing Jasmine's vocals to those of ex Flyleaf front woman Lacey Sturm wouldn't be a stretch.

I've been listening to their latest EP for the last two weeks now and haven't been able to put it down. The six track release contains some very memorable songs. It starts slowly with the heartfelt song "Tandem" and moves into their video release song "Tug Of War", which quickly escalates into a powerful and raw showcase of the bands emotional songwriting. While the aggressive parts of the EP are great, the slower more melodic parts are equally impressive. This band isn't relying on a single style or gimmick to get them by. Their songs speak for themselves. Check out the video for "Tug Of War" below:

Their latest release is the single "Toph". The band is working on new material and we will hopefully hear more from them in 2013. This band is loaded with talent, potential, and drive. Now all they need is a bigger audience. Give them a listen. It only took one song to convince me. Check out their latest video below and don't forget to give them a like on Facebook. Also be sure to check out their merch and give some support.

  1. AMAZING BAND.
Polarity lives up to their recordings in their live shows. The crowd explodes during high energy tracks and sways softly singing along to the intense sombre tunes. Huge fan right here.
