Breakout Artist Picks For 2014 - Part 1

   Here are my first picks for artists I believe will take a big leap in popularity and have a chance to break into the mainstream this year. All picks are based on the musical quality of their latest releases and the ability to market / advance / and perform their music in front of new audiences. Just my opinion, and it was a hard list to make with so many artists to choose from. 

The Nearly Deads
Some people might think that parting ways with your label might be a step backward, but The Nearly Deads seem to thrive under their own creativity and direction. If the new single is any indication of the quality of material they will be delivering, be prepared for world domination.

Their latest release was nothing short of amazing. You can read the review here. Combine this with their relentless touring schedule and you have a recipe for a very successful year.

Vinyl Theatre

Armed with an infectious sound that is sure to bring in fans, Vinyl Theatre seems poised to spread their music to a legion of fans this year. 

Grown Up Avenger Stuff

Sporting a unique style and an amazing new EP, Grown Up Avenger Stuff is a band that could quickly gain a following. Do yourself a favor and check out their latest release.

Sumo Cyco

With some of the most inventive videos and an energetic delivery that matches the intensity of the Tragic Kingdom days of No Doubt, Sumo Cyco looks to capture a huge audience with the release of their first full length this year.

If you haven't heard their 2013 release If It Kills Me, you really owe it to yourself to check it out. You'll see why I have them on this list. One of the best releases in recent memory.
