Show Review - Stitched Up Heart

There's something to be said for being professional. When you put everything you have into what you do
no matter the size of the venue or the size of the crowd, you show your true worth as a performer and as a musician. Stitched Up Heart displayed such professionalism on Friday night in Orlando, Florida at Odins Den. Despite the small venue the band gave the crowd the full rock star treatment, coming out with a full intro and an array of colored powder which flung off the guitarists as they launched into their set.

Those familiar with the band know that this is a different line-up than the one they had with their first EP. The band doesn't seem to want to dwell in the past as they focused on new material from their forthcoming album. Mixi played to the crowd, going into the audience several times and showing her remarkable stage presence. The band tore through an energetic set showcasing new songs "Frankenstein" , "The End", and "Funhaus" as well as the current single "Grave", and more.

The new material in every way trumps the previous release from Stitched Up Heart and the stage show was a brilliant display of aggression, raw emotion, and energy. This band belongs on stage and the passion for the material they play is evident.  While some bands go through the motions and think that it's enough to play their songs, Stitched Up Heart performs their songs. They want the audience to feel the energy and connect with the music.

The hard rock band from LA does have some connection to the area as lead vocalist Alecia 'Mixi' Demner is from Orlando and had plenty of family out to support. It's always nice to see family supporting each other, especially when it's to support the dreams of one of their own. With the performance and songs that were on display that night it might not be a dream much longer. It might be a not too distant reality.
