It's been a little while since Stitched Up Heart released their debut three song EP. Though there have been line up changes and numerous delays, i'm glad to say that "Skeleton Key" will probably not only meet fans expectations, but surpass them handily.
Stitched Up Heart's new sound is a potent mixture of pop, rock, electronic, and metal. What sounds like a recipe for disaster is actually a welcome mixture that keeps the cd interesting and entertaining throughout the six songs on Skeleton Key. Fans of the band will recognize the two singles "Grave" and "Frankenstein", which each have videos available. "Fun House" showcases Mixi's ability to combine brutal screams with pop hooks to create a song that not only has a sense of aggression, but manages to stick with you long after the cd is over. "Your Demise" displays the softer side of Stitched Up Heart with great results. If there was any thoughts that this band was a one trick pony, this song might convince you otherwise.
After seeing them live last year and hearing some of the new material I was very optimistic about the release of their new cd. After extensive listening to the finished product I can honestly say that it bested even the expectations I had for it. If you're a Stitched Up Heart fan this a no-brainer. Go pick it up. If you haven't heard of the band yet I urge you to give their latest a listen. I'm willing to bet Skeleton Key will make you a believer.
