Improvement is always a goal for any artist releasing new material. If there actually was an award for most improved on Beneath The Grid it would undoubtedly go to Emily Kopp this year. Some of the songwriting on Serendipity Find Me surpasses her debut EP by leaps and bounds. This is an amazing accomplishment considering the singer / songwriter is only twenty-three years of age.
The nine track album has plenty of brilliant moments. Songs like "Serendipity", "Friend Like You", and "Do You Ever" really showcase how far the artist has come in such a short time and are my personal favorites. The single "When We Fight", is an emotionally driven song that portrays the reality of every day relationships.
The album manages to deliver multiple improvements while still catering to fans of the original release. Kopp's vocals have never been better and the added depth of some of the material makes her ability stand out even more. While some of the tracks still lean toward the more simplistic style of songwriting found in the original EP, it's hard to call this release anything but a success. If there is this much of a significant improvement going into the next cd we could be looking at a future household name. Make sure to check out Emily Kopp on Facebook to keep up with all the latest.
