Review - Some Kind Of Syndrome - Done With This

Some Kind of Syndrome is a rock band based out of Stockholm, Sweden. I got to listen to the new album Done With This in its entirety before the release. Fans of classic rock music will more than likely gravitate toward this, but it shouldn't leave other fans out in the cold.

The first track, "The Maze", might be familiar to those that heard the bands previously released three song EP. The track is also repeated in acoustic form as the last track on the album. Greg Lindburg's vocals go a long way to distinguish the bands sound from other bands in the genre. It's always good when you can tell exactly what band you are listening to by the uniqueness of their sound.

The band doesn't deviate too much from the formula over the course of the album. Most tracks feature a mildly paced rock assault with timely guitar solos . The track "Set Me Free" teases at doing something different with its intro but ends up mostly just alternating the pace slightly. That's really the only thing that I can complain about with this release. The songs don't differ that much from one another to a great degree. This isn't always a bad thing as I think a lot of people will like what this band brings to the table. If you really like the first track on the album, you will probably stick around to the conclusion and be completely satisfied. All the groundwork is completely solid. From the instrumentals to the vocals, this band has enough talent to find an audience and they are just getting started. I'd like to see a little more variety in the next release but i'm fully confident that this band is only going to get better. A good release well worth checking out and a band you should keep your eye on. Connect with Some Kind Of Syndrome on Facebook.
