It's been a long wait for Kandia's new cd. Those of you anticipating the release won't have to wait much longer. On May 27th the band from Portugal will finally unleash its newest creation out into the world, and it was well worth the wait.
It has been 3 long years since Kandia released Inward Beauty / Outward Reflection, and they decided to follow it up with another full length release instead of an EP. Sometimes this can be a risky move for a band if some of the songs feel like filler and drag the overall quality of the release down. Their previous release was a solid cd with the brightest spot being their single "Into Your Hands".
All Is Gone bests their previous release in every
way possible. Kandia raises the quality of the entire package to a level that is seldom seen in bands not under major labels. Not only do you get the best of what they did well in their last release but you also get improved songwriting and composition. This is the band at its very best. I would easily pick any song off this album over the best material on the last release. That's a testament to how far this band has come.
The songs make great use of electronic sounds alongside heavy guitar riffs and Nya's impressive vocals. Heavier tracks like "Blow" (featured in the album preview) and "Scars" bring some much deeper aggression into the mix while "Everything You Say" and the calm and tranquil ballad "Bother" make this a well rounded package. I can't overstate the quality of not only the production, but the overall brilliance of the songs on this release. This a finely tuned machine that is a result of a lot of personal sacrifice and hardships. The band has been through some hard times putting this release together but the ending result is nothing short of a masterpiece.
You can listen to the first single "Scars", in the lyric video below. Most of the songs are of the same quality while quite a few of them are a step better. Come May 27th you should make sure to pick up a copy of Kandia's latest. This album will be in talks for our album of the year awards come December. It's just simply that good. Make sure to connect with Kandia on Facebook to keep yourself updated.
